[EO]We Need More Respect

Today, we will talk about respect. If we try flipping through the dictionary, we would have probably found many variations to the definition of the word. It could be "esteem for or a sense of the worth or excellence of a person, a personal quality or ability, or something considered as a manifestation of a personal quality or ability", or "to show regard or consideration for". But of all the definitions given, I would guess that they all mean the same thing. It is all working around being considerate, honoring others as well as have esteem for.
I know we are all sitting comfortably behind the virtual mask that we put on in the game. You would probably never have to front anyone in real life. The character that is in your possession may be strong and you have 100 other bootlickers tagging along. But let's just hope that we do not end up feeling too complacent that we lose ourselves eventually, forgetting all about the fun we were all looking forward to when we first started playing the game.
It is sad, but true, that once people gets all high and mighty about themselves, they tend to worship themselves more than anyone else, forgetting about their root and how friendships were built when they first started the game. In the recent weeks, I tend to believe that what I have just said was true. The definition of respect includes personal quality, excellence and ability. But it did not mention anything to do with highest battle power, or anything about being a pro or a newbie. Leaders and high ranking players from strong legions just simply refuse to acknowledge a conversation from someone whom might once was a friend, or someone whom genuinely needed help. Yes, they do not even bother to reply a simple "no", and I was not referring to those lazy bummers who keep asking for free teaches, pets and gears.
Let me just quote Abraham Lincoln that "If once you forfeit the confidence of your fellow-citizens, you can never regain their respect and esteem." This part of the statement I quoted creates a particularly strong sense to which of those who indulged strongly in themselves. They would do anything to get the best out of others for the sake of themselves. They go oblivious to people they used to chat with just so that they can concentrate on putting up more battle powers. They completely disregard everyone just so that they can live solitarily in awe of their own "achievements". These people think that what they have is respect, but in actual fact, they are just pulling themselves further away from it.
If you belong to the group of people that I have been describing in the previous two paragraphs, I would probably have suggested you to take up a single player game instead. You do not need anyone to talk to, nor need anyone to enjoy hunting with. Or perhaps, this particular group of people does need someone to talk to, just that they think they would enjoy better if they could go around throwing insults. Probably seeking for some attention, or even trying hard to prove that he is strong and mighty just in case he was too small to be noticed.
There are too many names to be mentioned, too many players who are guilty for this. It is probably their way of making up for what they wish they could be in real life. But what I do hope is that especially in an online community like EO, respect is to be mutually earned. Give the game a chance to prove itself that friendships do exist. Give others a chance to speak up and socialize. Everyone started EO because they just want to have fun, and I guess we could all help to make this committee a better place with a simple touch of respect for others.
