[ZO]Laissez-Faire, A Guide to Boothing Part 3

PRICE

Now then, it's time to talk about price. What's the best price for an item? There's always the general "market price", which is the price at which most players trade. However, in order for one to be able to sell their things, that's not a very useful price. Why's that? Well, it's "market price." If everyone sells the same thing for the same price, what's to make a difference between who buys from which seller? In order for one to sell their things faster, they must discount their own goods. Yes, yes, I know that you're making less profit from this. However, think about this: how much is the good worth to you? Is it worth 4 ZP? If market price is 6 ZP, than you're able to sell it at a 100% success rate for 5 ZP, since everyone will want to buy from you, as opposed to your higher priced competitor. Sure, you make a little less profit, but you make up for that extra time that's freed up for you to find new ware.

Take, for example, a (+1) sword that I've just used the Superaddition machine to create. Since I'm artillery, I can't Bonus Compose the sword onto my gun, which makes the sword virtually useless to me. Since I'd want to sell it to clear up space for my cabin, there's no point that I wouldn't take any price, save for the fact that it's above how much I would receive if I had sold it to an NPC. This would mean that if I had placed it into my booth, I'd be willing to sell for anything, and should the market be 1 ZP for it, I would charge about 150,000 gold for it (using the above ZP-meteor-gold calculation system). People would find it cheap, and then grab it fairly quickly, while I still make a large amount of revenue. Assuming that it would have taken 5 hours to sell that item alone, at the highest rent I would have still made about a 100,000 gold profit. That beats selling it to the NPC for less than 1000 gold.
