Chapter 11: The Mission

After a week of constant training 10 hours every day, the squad's strength increased. I slept in the soldier wing in the eastern part of the castle. But one day an emergency royal conference was called and lady Seraphyne had to leave the training grounds. She returned 3 hours later followed by an escort of guards in gold armor, in the middle of them was... the Queen!! the queen herself has come to the training grounds, this must be a very important issue. A guard in the front yelled: kneel before the queen! I got to one knee and lowered my head as did the rest of the squad. The queen said in her soft voice:

- Rise my soldiers for I have grave news to bring.

She looked at me oddly, well she was not so much looking at me as my armor and spear. A few seconds past then she continued:

- The fall of the elven kingdom has brought a plague upon us, and we have no one else to blame but our selfs. Yart now has only two known elves left... both of them are here with us. Since the destruction of the ElvenCity evil forces began to gather. Monsters lead by an unknown entity have gathered threw out Yart... and without the good magic of the elves protecting us we have no choice but to exterminate the opposing enemies. Yet as many as we kill, the many more will come and so we must destroy the forces at the roots, spies have gathered information from burnt villages. There seems to be an overlord behind every region of Yart and this elite groups job, is to seal them away, considering the beings are immortal demons attempting to destroy them would be futile. That is why Lady Seraphyne trains in the arts of sealing and light magic. This will be a perilous journey and some of you may not make it back, but your names will be forever remembered if you make it back.

She now is turned towards Martin.

-Martin you are far to young for combat and you shall be the squire who will record this epic and historical event, stay a distance and stay alive for your job may be the most important of all...

The queen bowed to the squad of armored guards and then left with her troop surrounding her.

At this moment I knew that this journey would be perilous and may indeed cost me my very life...
