Chapter 7: Training Ground

As I sat in my cell I wondered what should I do when I began my time in the royal army... Elves are naturally agile and magical, but the royal guards use simply melee... All the guards are twice my size, how am I supposed to compare with that.

Morning came quicker then expected, I managed to sleep a little more tonight then I have in a while. At around 5 am the doors of my cell swung open and in marched the 8 guards and out from behind them walked lady seraphyne. Her helm tucked gently under her arm and her blond hair swinging with the breas of the door. She looked rushed and spoke with a rough voice:

- We are going to the training grounds to prepare you and the other new recruits.

I stood up and two short women walked in and took my measurements. As quickly as they came they left, quickly walking out the door to only hearing they're footsteps along the stone hallway. The guards circled me and commanded me to walk, and so I walked out of the door and down the hall towards a bright light, one I haven't seen in a long time, it was the yellow-red glow of a sunrise. As I walked out no heads turned towards me, no one dared starring past the 10 foot tall guards.                   

I was brought to the edge of town, where a larger guard stood, the armed men exchanged a few words and then he let us pass, I walked into an open field with many dummies and targets. Its the royal training ground reserved for the guards. The guards around me dispersed and in front of me was Lady Seraphyne, her hair tied back as if ready for war.

- Today is your first day on the royal guard. This is where your weapon will be given to you and your armor is on its way, after suiting up please move to the left corner to meet your team of rookies.
