Chapter 2

Armenthos was surprised at what was waiting for him on the other side, once again feeling out of place in his surroundings. Standing and sitting in the room were numerous generals of both warrior and mage types. But that wasn't what surprised him the most, for the Queen herself stood in the room and upon his entrance the entire room went quiet and stared at him.

"I see that once again your late". It was a statement and she continued, "No matter how early I send for you, you always manage to arrive later than anyone else, even the Elven City representatives managed to get here before you and they had to fly." She paused at this and regarded Armenthos carefully, who pulled himself up to his full height and clutched his staff with all the pride he could. However, the effect was somewhat spoilt by the eudemon, that had begun to claw playfully at his ear.

"My apologies for my tardiness your Majesty, I was somewhat still sleeping when your messenger arrived this morning, and felt that since it was a Royal Summonings you would at least expect me to come dressed for the occasion." He paused and winced on the inside knowing that he was anything, but dressed for the occasion.

The silence continued on for longer than was comfortable before the Queen spoke again, "Since you've arrived we might as well start this session, before one of us loses their heads", she added in an undertone.
