Book 1

Prologue

It is only now that the events of Arc's Children have been laid to rest that we can fully understand what happened during those dreadful times. The beginning lies many years ago with the disappearance of children from the streets of many towns and villages that surrounded the lands of Cronus. Many believed that the reason behind this was due to the prolific slave trade that was occurring, behind the scenes of these dark times. However, the plot behind this was more sinister than what could first have been imagined. Arc was a scientist specialising in experimental research who was never seen alive during his life, he lived and worked in a tower the exact whereabouts remain unknown to this day, except to a select few who travelled there during that time. What we know about him stems from the reports at the time and a few surviving pages of his research on the Children. Although at the time, the lands were in constant turmoil, a fragile peace was present. That was, until the Children arrived...

Chapter 1

Armenthos yawned, subconsciously pushing his blond hair back away from his face. He rose and stumbled over the various items that littered his floor, as time hadn't permitted him to clear them from yesterday practice. The vibrations from the knock on the door were still ringing in his ears, as he trod on a small box crushing it. Moving over to the door, he gently pushed the sleeping eudemon away and carefully eased open the door, looking at the face of whoever was waking him at this unearthly hour, in the morning. "Armenthos, you are here by summoned to the Royal Palace immediately by Royal Decree and I am here to escort you so please could you make your way downstairs with me immediately to the carriage that will take you to the palace as the your presence is awaited." The speaker was a short man wearing some over the top orange looking robes and an obvious looking white wig. Armenthos blinked. This hadn't been what he'd be expecting at this time in the morning, indeed, he hadn't been expecting the brilliant orange or how the speech was strung together without any pauses or punctuation. "Armenthos, your presence is required now".

Armenthos sighed, "Would you have any objections to me getting dressed first or does the Royal Decree state I have to attend in what I'm currently wearing."  He paused to let the speaker get a good look at who he was talking to.
